The Product Development (PD) Manager is the leader of all Development for Fjord. This role requires a high degree of communication with multiple customer groups and understanding the customers’ calendars and expectations. The PD Manager will demonstrate strong leadership and development coaching of the direct team. The PD Manager is product-focused, responsible for collaboration with all cross functional teams, and establishes priorities in partnership with the Sr. Director of Product & New Business Development.
Job Duties:
Mentor Developers and Assist Developers, to ensure we are creating a strong team to manage current and new customers.
Responsible for tracking the Product Development KPI’s and ensuring targets are met.
Creating action and escalation plans as needed for areas of opportunity.
Review current processes and overall workload to make recommendations and implement needed changes amongst team.
Leads regional Product Development team, including PD, Sample Team and Embellishment Development.
Trains and coach’s direct reports.
Manages their teams’ communication between internal Tegra throughout the Product Creation lifecycle (Industrialization, Pre-Production / Sample Room, Costing, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Production).
Owns the product development lifecycle and ensures style commercialization is accurate and on-time, adhering to all seasonal calendar dates.
Assist team in removing obstacles that come up during the product development process.
Oversees on-time and accurate execution of style tracking. Identifies action plan to execute system work for new & carryover styles.
Utilize customer forecasts to plan workload against open capacity.
Drive consistent Development and elevate issues to Sr Director of Product & New Business Development.
Conduct workload analysis of KPIs to define present and future Development team needs.
Ensure team participation in all Dev Kick Off / Style Huddles, First Proto Meetings, and Line Board Creation.
Lead communication around sample prioritization, understanding Sample Room capacity and complexity of protos, strike-offs, and SMS.
Assist Industrialization team with any Construction / Pattern challenges and communicate action plan to customer as needed.
Support the team in creating Sample Work Orders.
Support Developers in Pre-Production meetings.
Partners with Sr. Director of Product & New Business Development to lead development calls with customers as needed. Owns the meeting agenda, coordinating with all cross-functional teams for seamless communication.
Partners with Sr. Developer of Product & New Business Development to lead weekly CFT and WOR meetings. Responsible for creating slides for presentations to leadership.
Skills / Qualifications:
10+ years related management level experience.
Working knowledge of apparel, manufacturing & costing.
Ability to manage multiple direct reports.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, manage multiple projects at same time & set priorities.
